Impact Prediction and EIA report preparation
Through local knowledge and expertise the public can help to predict social and environmental effects, for example, identifying community structures and needs, according to cultural values. The public can also aid in the evaluation of all effects by providing opinion on the significance of impacts. The identification of acceptable mitigation measures is an equally important role for the public. Involvement of the public at this stage should lead to improved quality and acceptability of the EIA Report (EIA Centre, 1995).
