Eutrophication of water bodies

Eutrophication is enrichment of water by nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus which leads to the growth of algal blooms. Human activities induce eutrohication by untreated domestic, agriculture and industrial discharges. Dead algae deteriorate the quality of water and make it unsuitable for usage even for recreational activities.
