Pollution prevention

Many surface and groundwater resources have been already polluted while others are under the threat of pollution. Different land use activities such as urbanization, industry and agriculture are the main sources of pollution. Pollution usually occurs because of the lack of proper management of the wastes resulting from land use activities. Pollution prevention requires proper treatment, reuse and disposal of solid, liquid and gaseous wastes. The following sections describe methods for pollution prevention. Local, regional, national & international cooperation is vital for pollution prevention and water quality management.
